• Many women feel like the healing process is a lot easier than they had originally expected. Yes, the eyebrow will look a little bold and then a little patchy, but its no reason to hide away! (Although I wouldn’t recommend doing them right before an important event!)!

However, some women get brow shock. They go through a roller coaster of emotions when they have their eyebrows done. It takes a full 6 weeks to see what your tattoo will really look like. The eyebrow tattoo goes through a lot of changes, the color shifts, fades and softens during the healing period, before seeing the true healed color. The PMU can not be judged or adjusted before the tattoo is truly healed. This is a process and you have to be patient and trust it.

Generally, the day of the treatment, the eyebrows will look daker, more defined, bolder and warmer in tone than what they will look like once they are fully healed. The next day, and for the next few days, the eyebrows will appear very dark and will look a little harsh because the skin has now formed a thin layer of scabbing to protect itself. Then around day 5, the thin scabs will start to flake off making the eyebrows appear a little patchy. Usually, around day 7-10, the scabs have fully come off and the eyebrows appear light in color and almost like a milky version of the color. This is completely normal, it will take another good 4 weeks for that new skin to become more transparent again. During this period, you may find the eyebrows don’t look fully even in color or saturation. Once we see each other at the touch up appointment, any unevenness or shift in tone can be adjusted. The touch up is a very important part of the permanent makeup process.

Aftercare is very important and how you care for your tattoo will determine a large part of the healed result. Permanent makeup is teamwork, the actual tattooing is only half of the result. The other half is how you prepared for the tattoo and how you care for it afterwards.

EYEBROW AFTERCARE

IMPORTANT AFTERCARE FOLLOWING THE PROCEDURE

Immediately: Do not touch your eyebrows. This is a fresh wound, it needs to stay clean to avoid infection. The area may have some redness and swelling.

Day 1: For the first hour after treatment, blot the brows every 15 mins with a clean tissue. Then every hour, with freshly washed hands, dampen one of the gauze provided with cool water (ring it out), and gently clean the eyebrows. Immediately pat dry with a tissue. Sleep on a clean pillowcase and avoid sleeping on your face.

Day 1-14 (or until all scabbing has fallen off on its own): Every morning and night, with clean hands, wash the eyebrow area gently with the cleanser provided. Immediately pat dry with a tissue. Then, apply a VERY THIN layer of the ointment provided.

For 4 days: Avoid wetting the eyebrows other than to clean them as indicated. If they get wet accidentally, pat dry with tissue immediately.

Until ALL scabs have come off on their own (10-14 days): Avoid all sources of heat (sauna, steam room, bath, etc.), bathing in seawater or swimming pools or hot tubs as well as any physical activity that may result in sweating. Do not use any cosmetics or skin care products on the treated area. No plucking or waxing the area

For 1 month: Do not expose the area to UV rays (you may wear sunscreen on them after 14 days), avoid botox, fillers, facials, lasers, peels, AHA’s and retinols.

Never: Pick, scratch, or scrub the small scabs. Allow them to fall off by themselves. If you are itchy, add a thin layer of the aftercare ointment.

EYELINER AFTERCARE

IMPORTANT AFTERCARE FOLLOWING THE PROCEDURE

Immediately: DO NOT TOUCH your tattoo, this is an open wound, and an infection could occur. The area may have some redness and swelling.

Day 1-2 : On the night of the treatment and the next morning, wash your hands and use the antiseptic wipes provided to clean the treated area Your eyelids may have some swelling for 48 hours (more swelling in the morning). Apply ice as needed as well as when you wakeup and go to bed until swelling is completely gone (put ice in a plastic bag and wrap the bag in a CLEAN paper towel, do not apply ice directly to skin). You may take some anti-inflammatory to help with the swelling. Avoid alcohol, it could cause swelling.

Until all scabs have fallen off on their own (7-14 days): Do not wet the area or wear contact lenses. Avoid all sources of heat (sauna, steam room, bath, etc.), bathing in seawater or swimming pools or hot tubs as well as any physical activity that may result in sweating. Do not use any cosmetics (mascara, eyeshadow) or skin care products on the treated area. After 7 days, if the eyes feel tight or itchy, a little bit of the after-care cream provided can be applied to relieve any dryness or flaking.

For 3 weeks: Do not get eyelash extensions.

For 1 month: Do not expose your tattoo to UV rays (after 14 days, you can apply sunscreen), avoid botox, fillers, facials, lasers, peels, AHA’s and retinols.

For 8 weeks: Do not use lash growth serum until 8 weeks after the touch up.

Never: pick, scratch, or scrub the small scabs. Allow them to fall off by themselves. If you are itchy (after 5 days) add a thin layer of the aftercare ointment provided.

Immediately inform Joelle if the pigmented area is infected at 514-966-4665.

LIPS AFTERCARE

IMPORTANT AFTERCARE FOLLOWING THE PROCEDURE

Immediately: Do not touch your lips. This is an open wound and could get infected. Swelling is normal after the procedure, you can ice your lips for 10 minutes per hour to help reduce swelling. Please wrap your icepack with a clean paper towel.

Day1-2: Use the antiseptic towelettes provided to clean the lips the night of the treatment as well as the following morning and night. With clean hands, blot or gently wipe the towelettes onto lips. Only use the provided wipes, do not use water or any other cleanser for the first 48 hours.

Day 1-7: Your lips will feel dry, tight and grainy. Keep your lips hydrated at all times. Apply a very thin layer of the provided ointment to the lips with clean fingers throughout the day. Do not let the lips get dry. Do not apply too much ointment as it could cause fading of the color, a thin layer goes a long way. Do not use any other product on the lips during the healing period until all the scabbing has come off naturally. Be mindful of what and how you are eating and drinking as the lips will be more sensitive and prone to infection. Use a straw to drink everything and do not let food touch your lips. Avoid spicy and saucy foods.

Day 1-14: Avoid all sources of heat (including UV, sauna, steam room, sun, etc.). Do not let sweat or any other bodily fluids touch the lips. Do not use cosmetics, make-up removers and / or creams on the lip area. Do not allow any facial cosmetics or skincare touch the lips. Do not use any alcohol based, petroleum based or mineral oil based products on the lips. Avoid swimming in seawater or swimming pool until completely healed.

For 1 month: Do not expose your lips to the sun. You may wear a sunscreen on the lips once all scabs have fallen off on their own. Do not have facials, peels, laser treatments, hair removal or fillers in the area.

Never pick, scratch, rub your lips to remove the scabbing. Let it fall off on its own when its ready to avoid damaging the color and affecting color retention. Removing them prematurely may cause pigment loss or scarring.
